Exactly one year after graduating, Nick Valentijn presented his debut solo show at St. Vincents in Antwerp. Bringing together nine new works and three from his graduation series, the exhibition explored the tension between sculpture and function, presence and utility.

Made from brass, copper, steel and oak, the pieces reveal their own making: seams left visible, forms slightly off, volumes that resist full resolution. Cabinets deny storage, stools resist symmetry — objects guided more by gesture than by purpose.
